YouTube Thursday: Favourite cover songs: Smells like teen spirit
Once again, I stole an idea from maxime68. I can’t help it, she has all the cool ideas.
I was a Nirvana fan when I was younger. Not a huge fan, but I did own all of their albums –well, the most popular ones anyway. Smells like teen spirit was never my fave song of theirs, but I did always like it.
I did not get to really appreciate the song until I discovered some of the cover versions. Two in particular I really enjoy. The first one is a version by Patti Smith.
Of course, Patti Smith is all kinds of awesome, so not surprisingly she makes this song into something quite remarkable.
My all time fave cover of this song, and perhaps even my all time fave cover of all songs, is the version by Tori Amos. Now I do happen to be a huge Tori Amos fan, so I might be a little biased. But c’mon, you listen to it and you tell me it’s not amazing.

Quite enjoyed the Patti Smith version, it's a better song when it's toned down and less grungy.
But Tori Amos made a wonderful piano version of it. I also like it very much :)
