Weight gain

Some people are naturally skinny. They can eat and eat and eat, never exercise, and still they never gain any weight (I hate you bitches, LOL). I am not one of those people. Far from it.

I have never been a sportive type of person, and I also never was all that skinny. Still, weight was not really a problem for me until I got into my twenties. All of a sudden, every burger I ate and every beer I drank seem to make me gain weight.

Of course, I did not really fully realize how much weight I had gained, until one day a few years ago, I stepped onto a scale and I found out I weighted 200 pounds. I was so shocked, because I honestly did not know I was that fat.

I decided to go on a diet right away, and I was very successful. I totally changed the way I lived my life and what I ate (I stopped eating take out, chips, pizza etc. although I could never give up alcohol). Over the next 18 months, I lost about 50 ponds.

I felt so great and proud of my achievement. There is nothing like being 50 ponds lighter, and having everyone compliment you how great you look, to realize how heavy you were before.

There is great pleasure to be found in going shopping and having all the clothes not only fit you, but also look good on you. I felt more attractive than I had in years, I was happier, had more energy, and basically life was great.

I managed to keep the weight off for a few years. However, then I decided to quit smoking. I was such a chain-smoking addict, and quitting was one of the hardest things I have ever done (read more about it here).

I was successful at quitting, but not without a little weight gain. Unfortunately, a little weight gain turned into a little more weight gain. I never had a very fast metabolism, but not smoking has made it even slower.

Don’t worry, I am not back to my original 200 ponds, but I have gained enough weight back to not be able to fit into all of my clothes anymore (like my great suit). My friends have also stopped complimenting me on my looks. The latter is very telling.

I have decided it is time to start trying to lose some of the weight again. This time I am not just going to diet, I want to try to exercise more. Not an easy task, because I am such an unbelievably unsportive person, but I am going to try.

Hopefully I will have some good news updates to share with you guys soon.
